The report contains assessments of economic growth, interest rates, exchange rates, oil prices, freight rates and vessel prices. It is published twice a year.

The SAI Annual Market Report

The SAI Annual Market Report is a compact version of the Shipping Market Report and published once a year.

Newbuilding market forecast

This report is prepared twice a year by The Institute of Shipping Analysis and IHS Fairplay for members of the Shipbuilding Forecast Group. The forecast covers cargo carrying ship types of 100 GT and larger and have a 10 year perspective. The forecast mainly relates to global trends and cycles in economic development and trade, but considers both the long term development trends and the short term business cycle developments and is based on IHS Global Insight‘s forecasts of economic growth, trade and transport volumes at sea.

Other important factors to be considered when forecasting the newbuilding markets are the tonnage supply development, shipping market rates, prices of existing ships, costs for labour, bunker, capital, insurances and currency rates and access to newbuilding slots at shipyards.
