SAIs styrelse har utsett Lena Göthberg, 51år, till ny generalsekreterare i SAI. Lena Göthberg tillträder tjänsten den 1 augusti.

Lena som är jurist har en lång karriär inomsjöfart, speciellt med inriktning på sjöförsäkring. Lena har ett brett nätverki det maritima klustret och sitter också i Sjöfartsverkets styrelse.

New Secretary-General of SAI
(the Institute of Shipping Analysis) 

The board of SAI hasappointed Lena Göthberg as new Secretary-General with effect from August 1st, 2010.

Lena, with a degree oflaw from the University of Lund, has a long career within the shippingindustry, primarily within the marine insurance field in Sweden,  has a broad network worldwide since shehas been engaged in various organisations within the maritime cluster. Lenacurrently holds a position as member of the board of the Swedish MaritimeAdministration.

Maritime news is now back after the summer.

SAI delivered to our clients our Global Shipping Market Report in July. It is more than 60 pages given an overview of the development. It has been sent to our Advisory members and you are more than welcome to contact us for one hour’s presentation. The Annual Shipping Market Report was as well sent to all subscribers in July. Our EO&W sent to all subscribers have highlighted the broken trend of new orders and the August EO&W gave some views of Energy Outlook. Market indicators are delivered each month. If you have any comments to our selection of indicators please let’s know. We note a growing demand for our analytic services. The super market that we have experienced for several years seems to come to an end. However, this is not true for all segments. Det hundrade projektet nu publicerat i Sjöfartsverkets forskningsdatabas!

Sjöfart berörs av många forskningsområden som har sin huvudinriktning mot andra näringar, vilket gör det svårt att få en samlad bild av sjöfartsrelaterad forskning. Under många år har man talat om behovet att samla uppgifter om all forskning som har anknytning till sjöfart på ett ställe, som är tillgängligt för alla intresserade. Ett antal försök har under åren gjorts, men inte kommit över initialskedet. Under våren 2006 avsatte Sjöfartsverket resurser för att göra ett nytt försök att etablera en databas över sjöfartsrelaterad forskning. Verket har uppdragit åt SAI att administrera databasen under de två första åren.

Databasen är mycket enkel. Den innehåller beskrivningar av svenska eller svenskrelaterade forskningsprojekt sedan 2000. Även examensarbeten, som handledare anser vara av intresse och betydelse för andra forskare, studenter, branschen och ibland även en bredare allmänhet finns med liksom några utredningar samt länkar till andra intressanta databaser eller projektsidor, som uppdateras kontinuerligt. Även de senare beskrivs som projekt.

Projektbeskrivningarna innehåller uppgifter om mål och, om projektet är avslutat resultat, projektledare, institution eller liknande, finansiärer och budget (inte alla). Rapporter finns inlagda i sin helhet för nedladdning eller som länk till annan hemsida. Samtliga fält i databasen är sökbara. Databasen är även försedd med fritextsökning, men den avancerade sökningen på enstaka fält ger snabbare och mer avgränsade träffar.

Databasen innehåller nu 100 projekt, varav ca hälften avser sjösäkerhet och en fjärdedel olika miljöaspekter. Sjösäkerhetsprojekten behandlar både tekniska och människa/maskin-aspekter. Projekt inom områdena juridik, ekonomi och marknad saknas nästan helt. Alla forskare tycks inte vara så angelägna om att få sina projekt spridda i en vidare krets. De tar sig i alla fall inte tid att tala om att de finns. Eller är det möjligen så att vi inte nått tillräckligt många forskare med uppmaningen att höra av sig för att få sina projekt publicerade?

Author of numerous monographs and articles within the research fields of international trade, foreign direct investment, transport and industrial change, Professor Alvstam’s list of publications also involves a textbook for the Swedish Shipowners’ Association and research together with Kaj Rehnström, founder of SAI.

Former Managing Director of Stena RoRo, since September 2006 partner in the Swedish-British investment company Imperial Shipping Ltd; saying that Carl-Otto Dahlberg has the necessary shipping expertise for the position as new chairman of SAI is hardly an overstatement.
